In today's polarized climate, fostering civil discourse in the classroom is crucial for developing engaged and responsible citizens. This workshop goes deeper on the CUBED (Courage, Understanding, Belonging, Empathy, Discourse) approach featured in the Tuesday keynote address. Participants will explore best practices for navigating contentious topics, learn strategies to create safe and inclusive discussion environments, and address potential barriers from administration to community. Through practical application, attendees will begin developing a framework for facilitating civil discourse on a topic relevant to their curriculum, leaving with concrete tools and increased confidence to address challenging issues effectively.
