About me
Jessica Hooper is the Virtual Education Program Consultant for the Wyoming Department of Education. She came to the WDE with 21 years of classroom teaching experience all in the great state of Wyoming. Her career started in Dubois where she taught secondary English and coached One Act and Track. She then spent eight years at Jackson Hole High School where she was part of the Bronco Leadership team, served as Department Chair, oversaw various extra curricular programs such as Poetry Out Loud, and was part of the Center for Educational Leadership Cohort under the direction of Dr. Scott Crisp. After the birth of her daughter, she took a teaching role at Star Valley High School. While at SVHS she taught both F2F courses and Virtual Education courses, was co-director of The Phantom of the Opera musical, participated in district alignment, and started the Virtual Education program. She was also an instructional facilitator where she helped other teachers throughout the district with PLCs, Canvas, data, alignment, assessment building, online course building, and instructional coaching. Her desire to move closer to family led her to Goshen County where she taught English in grades 7-12 at Southeast. She was also part of the District Literacy team, Southeast Leadership team, and started the National Honor Society Chapter at Southeast High School. Jessica grew up on a farm in the panhandle of Nebraska and received her Bachelor's Degree from York University in Nebraska and received her Master of Arts in Teaching from Grand Canyon University. Jessica and her family continue to live in Goshen County. She enjoys singing, reading, boating, spending time with family, friends, and her dogs, watching hockey, and riding dirt bikes. During her time at the WDE, she strives to continually innovate and improve Wyoming's Virtual Education Program.
