About me
Carrie McCarthy is a scientist-turned-filmmaker whose path into documentary storytelling began as a scientific consultant on films. Since 2018, she has run Burning Torch Productions with Mark Pedri, producing and directing character-driven short and feature documentaries. Her films have screened at festivals around the world and on national television. Carrie is also an experienced impact producer—most recently leading a 65-city impact campaign for her film DEAR SIRS, spanning four countries and partnering with U.S. Embassies, national NGOs, state agencies, and local advocacy groups. Most recently, Carrie partnered with Wyoming curriculum developer Caroline Smalstig to create a cross-curricular curriculum guide that allows teachers to use DEAR SIRS as an educational tool for engaging students in History, Social Studies, and Narratives. Carrie holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Southern California.
