About me
Dr. Jean Garrison is professor of political science and international studies at the University of Wyoming and co-director of the Wallop Civic Engagement Program. Her areas of teaching and research focus on civic engagement, American foreign policy, energy security, and U.S.-China relations. As co-director of the Wallop Civic Engagement Program, she focuses on working with teachers to advance civics education and youth involvement in their communities. In her 25 years at UW she has held numerous positions in community engagement at the University of Wyoming including as special assistant to the provost for community engagement chairing UW’s successful effort to be nationally recognized as a Carnegie Community Engaged University (2022-23) and leading UW’s community engagement initiative from June 2017-August 2020 as special assistant to the president for engagement and founding director of the Office of Engagement and Outreach. She is the author and co-editor of four books and numerous peer reviewed articles and book chapters.
