Lead Learner | 5th Grade Teacher | Passionate Advocate for Empowered Education Inspired by Wellness, Wit and Wisdom
Revea Smith is a 5th grade teacher at Wagonwheel Elementary in Gillette, Wyoming, where her infectious spirit and boundless energy fuel a classroom environment that sparks curiosity and fosters deep connections. With a passion for helping every student discover their potential, Revea is committed to creating a space where academic, emotional, and social growth happen together. Inspired by her own transformative 6th grade teacher, she believes that education is about more than just learning content—it’s about building relationships and empowering students to thrive in all areas of life.
As a National Board Certified Teacher and the 2023 District Teacher of the Year, Revea brings a dynamic, project-based approach to her classroom, inspiring students to think critically and collaborate creatively. Her ability to guide all learners, including students with Autism, is a testament to her belief that every student deserves the opportunity to succeed. Whether through cross-curricular initiatives or collaborative learning experiences, her spirit is contagious—infusing her students and colleagues alike with energy and a love for learning.
Revea is a leader beyond the classroom, too. She serves as a Girls on the Run coach and coordinator, Hope Squad leader, and is a member of the Level Up statewide leadership group for teachers. This fall, she will join the Wyoming Mentorship Corps through the University of Wyoming to further develop her leadership in education.
With a BA in Education from the University of Phoenix and an MS in English as a Second Language from Colorado State University, Revea earned both degrees while teaching, underscoring her commitment to growth. Since moving to Wyoming in 2018, she’s become a passionate advocate for collaboration and community-building within education, and her efforts earned her the title of District Teacher of the Year.
When she’s not teaching or inspiring others, Revea is traveling the world—recently completing 10 trips in one year, including an unforgettable trip to Tahiti. She and her husband Derek enjoy kayaking, restoring their 1976 Airstream, and building Legos together. A proud mom to a recent UW MSW grad and dog mom to Franklin (and fur-grandma to Hank), Revea lives by the motto: Work hard, play hard… in that order.
